Coast to Country:
28 nights through Wales

Four one-week bases, designed to feel varied and unhurried while you still travel completely independently.

WEEK 01 · CARDIGAN BAY

Start with the sea.

Use Tywyn or Aberdyfi as an easy first base. Walk the coast, take the Talyllyn Railway, explore the Dyfi valley and give yourself permission to do absolutely nothing for an afternoon.

Typical stayA week by the coast, with time to settle in rather than just pass through.
WEEK 02 · ERYRI

Then turn toward the mountains.

Move inland for a week based around Eryri. Mix bigger days with easier lake walks, heritage railways, village stops and drives that are half the point of being there.

Typical stayA scenic mountain base with enough time for both slower days and proper exploring.
WEEK 03 · PEMBROKESHIRE

Swap peaks for harbours and coast path.

The third week changes the mood again. Think small harbour towns, beaches, sea views, cliff walks and evenings that naturally run a bit longer.

Typical stayA west-coast stay built around the water, with plenty of contrast from the previous week.
WEEK 04 · BANNAU BRYCHEINIOG

Finish in wide open country.

End with a gentler kind of drama: rolling hill country, market towns, country pubs, cottage views and the feeling of winding down without the trip losing momentum.

Typical stayA final-week base that feels restful, scenic and properly away from the rush.
Why it works

Long enough to breathe.

The best bit of a slower route is that every week has room for both plans and spontaneity. You can do the famous things, then still have time to find your own favourites.

Less packing, more livingOne move a week means the journey feels calmer from the start.
Natural varietyEach base has a different feel, so the trip never goes flat.
Wales in chaptersYou experience the country as a sequence of places, not a blur.
